How to Apply
All Special Event Permit applications must be submitted online by clicking here.
Applications are no longer accepted by paper. If you require an accommodation due to a disability please contact our office (contact information located below).
Application Deadlines
To ensure adequate review and coordination, applications must be submitted in accordance with the following timelines:
35 days prior to the event date for most events
95 days prior for parades, road races, or events requiring temporary closure or material restriction of public streets
15 days prior for applications consisting solely of expressive activities
Applications submitted more than 365 days in advance will not be accepted.
Before You Apply
This page provides a general overview of the Special Event Permit process. Specific application requirements may vary depending on the nature, size, and location of the event.
All applications are reviewed in accordance with applicable City Code. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.
Application Process
- Submit an Application
Complete and submit the online Special Event Permit Application by the applicable deadline. - Application Receipt
Applicants will receive confirmation of receipt within five (5) business days. - Staff Review
City staff will review the application and may request clarification or additional information as needed. - Special Event Staff Review
Most applications are reviewed during the Special Event Staff Review meeting, held on the third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m.
Applicants will be notified if their event is scheduled for review and are encouraged to attend.
Not all applications require a full staff review. - Director Review
Following staff review, the Director of Parks and Recreation will evaluate the application and may require revisions, supporting documentation (such as insurance), or additional permits prior to advancing. - Final Decision
The Director will forward a recommendation to the City Manager, who will approve or deny the Special Event Permit.
Additional Information
Applications are accepted Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding city holidays.
Applications submitted outside of business hours will be considered received on the next business day.
Issuance of a Special Event Permit does not waive or replace any applicable facility rental fees, service charges, or other costs associated with use of city property or services.
