Ukrainian Egg Dyeing (Pysanky)

April 23 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Learn the art of Pysanky, traditional Ukrainian decorated eggs.

Students will learn to make traditional Ukrainian decorated eggs, using layers of wax, colored dye, and hollow chicken eggs. Each student will leave with an abstract “practice” egg and a finished Ukrainian-style design. This class is suitable for both complete artistic beginners and more experienced artists wanting to learn a new skill.

Students will take home two hollow dyed eggs (sprayed with clear acrylic gloss if weather permits) and one kistka (wax “writing” tool)

Grade 9-Adult (Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

*Please wear clothes you are comfortable with getting dye on!*

Molly Ison is an artist living in Johnson City and specializing in Ukrainian egg dyeing (pysanky). Her work combines traditional methods with symbols and motifs from many sources and cultures. She is currently working on a tarot inspired series of eggs.
