Kingsport ARTS

Kingsport ARTS is a 2023-2024 initiative by Engage Kingsport focused on implementing new arts programs as well as making improvements to the wide variety of public arts throughout the city. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to all types of art—visual, performance, outdoor, and more—at the level they choose.

The orchestra began when a small group of musicians dreamed of having a civic orchestra in 1946. At the time it was known as Kingsport Symphony Orchestra. Twenty-seven musicians attended the first rehearsal and the number quickly grew to more than 40. The first concert was free to the public and neither the conductor nor any of the musicians were paid.

Suzuki Talent Education of Appalachia is a nonprofit organization that provides music education and Suzuki instruction in violin, viola, cello, and piano, to students ages 3 to adult. Classes are offered at the Renaissance Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Kingsport Theatre Guild (KTG) is celebrating its 76th year as a community theatre that promotes growth and education, offers encouragement and hope, builds self-esteem and engages the minds of not only the actors, directors, and crew but also the community in which it is based. KTG is a starting point for those interested in pursuing an education or career in theatre. It is an escape from reality for a few hours for those who are seeking it. It is also a place many call home, where returning cast and crew are considered family and newcomers are welcomed with open arms. KTG is you, just as you are, in all of your many talents.
